About us

Rompower Energy Systems, Inc.

Rompower Energy Systems is an internationally recognized research and development company in the field of power conversion. The primary goal of this engineering firm is to develop new technologies designed to meet the needs of the power conversion industry. Rompower has licensed technologies and provides engineering services worldwide to customers in areas such as high-density and high-efficiency DC-DC and AC-DC converters, power conversion for electric and hybrid vehicles and industrial power and AI power solutions.

2013–Present
Rompower Energy Systems was established as a spin-off from Delta Electronics under of guidance of Dr. Ionel “Dan” Jitaru. The company retained a portion of Delta’s engineering team, and Delta has continued to be a customer in selected development programs. As a dedicated research and development organization, Rompower has developed key technologies in the areas of AC-DC adapters, Automotive power systems, and Advanced Magnetics applicable in AI.

In the field of AC-DC adapters, Rompower’s technologies have achieved industry-leading performance in efficiency, power density, and EMI compliance. Several of these technologies have been licensed to one of the world’s largest semiconductor companies, underscoring their strong technical merit and commercial relevance.

In the area of Automotive power, Rompower has developed a novel DC-DC conversion technology for auxiliary battery chargers capable of operating from an 800 V bus with a very wide input voltage range. This solution leverages high-power-density magnetics with reduced copper content, delivers outstanding efficiency and very high power density, and achieves near-zero common-mode noise through a novel architecture, making it particularly well suited for next-generation automotive platforms.

To date, Rompower holds 42 granted U.S. patents, with 7 additional patents pending.

1994–2001
Rompower Inc. was established as a start-up company founded by Dr. Ionel “Dan” Jitaru in 1994. The company became widely recognized in the power-engineering community through the world’s first introduction of fully integrated multilayer PCB magnetics, for which Rompower held the original U.S. patents. This technology has since been adopted across a wide range of power-conversion applications, including DC-DC converters, AC-DC power supplies, high-power automotive systems, and, more recently, AI power platforms.

Rompower Inc. was among the first organizations to introduce this technology into electric vehicle applications, and in 1998 licensed the technology to Siemens Automotive in Würzburg, Germany.

In addition, Rompower Inc. became well known for its pioneering contributions to soft-switching power-conversion technologies, synchronous rectification, and noise-suppression techniques in advanced magnetics.

2001–2003
Rompower Inc. was acquired by Ascom Energy Systems AG, a Swiss company that had consolidated several European power-conversion Companies. Ascom sought a high-technology platform to help modernize and revolutionize the power-conversion technologies across its acquired companies, and Rompower’ s innovations served as a key enabler of this transformation.

2003–2014
Following the acquisition of Ascom Energy Systems by Delta Electronics, Rompower , under the guidance of Dr. Ionel “Dan” Jitaru continued its activities as an advanced engineering group within Delta. During this period, Rompower played a key role in advancing power-conversion technologies for Electric Vehicle Applications, enabling Delta’s entry and growth in the automotive sector. Rompower’s technologies and engineering efforts supported programs with major Automotive OEMs, including General Motors, Renault, Tesla, and others.
